My Busy Kit

This is horrendously overdue, my most sincere apologies to Lorraine, of
My Busy Kit.
She was kind enough to send me two My Busy Kits for my kids to try out,
and seeing as the kits have been SUCH a hit I meant to have made a
little mini review thing of them a long time ago. Between school,
Jaymes, whining, stressing, school, Jaymes, STRESS, etc... Well
obviously it hasn't gotten done.
So, the day the My Busy Kits
arrived, I was in my usual state of insanity. Having a husband with
some pretty serious OCD and children who love to make huge messes can
be very frustrating and I had been out of ideas for awhile. The arrival
of the box full of activities made my overworked little heart sing.
Jaymes latched onto the little interlocking, multicolored men and made
long trains of them. Sierra went for the art stuff. Markers, crayons,
scissors, paper- there were even little blank notepads and bookmarks
and paper people! The scissors were super-duper toddler proof, the kind
that are all plastic, no metal and all but impossible to hurt yourself
with. Hooray! The kids played happily for several hours, until I pried
all the goodies out of their sticky little paws and stuck it back into
each bag. It occurred to me that it might possibly be smarter to just
wait and use them as they are intended- as on-the-go activities. So, I
started using it only at doctor or therapy appointments. Jaymes loved
it, Sierra too. They loved it so much that I realized I should share
the wealth with my friend Kristi. So I kept one kit, and gave her the
other. Her kids are about as destructive as mine, so I figured she'd
get a little respite from the insanity.
My Busy Kit is the
coolest concept, and it's clear that much care has been taken to get
all the Right Stuff in those lovely, sturdy, reusable bags. One
particularly genius addition was the couple of tape measures in the
kits. I had long thought my kids were plain weird and the only we had
such an affinity for tape measures. Apparently not, as Lorraine had the
very same thought. The stickers were a good addition too. All in all,
everything was wonderful. Everything is Autism-Safe, everything was
Jaymes Approved, and everything was fun. Good quality, safe., sturdy
stuff. Can't beat that. And when the kids destroy it all- you still
have the bagt to make a whole new one.
I definitely recommend
these kits. They're great for appointments in boring waiting rooms, or
anywhere on the go. Maybe not the car, if your kids are like mine,
because stickers and crayon end up on the windows and can be hard to
scrape off. But seriously, totally worth the investment and an awesome
gift for autistic kids, "normal" kids, and their immature parents. Go
buy one. Tell her you bought it on my recommendation, not because I get
anything but so she doesn't think her kind freebie kits were sent to me
to no purpose!
